ALL SAINTS, SOUTH PICKENHAM |
We are a parish with a population of only 68. Average attendance is 9, with three services a month - Morning Prayer at 10am, Evening Prayer at 6.30pm in summer and 3.30pm in winter and Holy Communion at 8.30am, all the Book of Common Prayer.
Special services are well attended and the church filled. These are Snowdrop, when the surrounding area is filled with flowers, Summer Songs, Harvest Festival and Christingle services.
Many of the houses are owned by the South Pickenham Estate and on short lets. In the old days they were mostly occupied by farm workers.
All Saints is an Early English building, Grade 1, largely unaltered and in a reasonable state of repair. We have just had a Quinquennial inspection and some work will be necessary during the next five years. No-one is employed; cleaning, grasscutting etc is done by volunteers. There are no village organisations but the nave is used by the Parish Council for meetings.
A few years ago the church was saved from redundancy. It is our wish that it will continue to serve god in this place.
